As I was watching Brothers & Sisters tonight on my DVR, I first found out via Twitter that Osama Bin Laden was dead. Minutes later, I received an AP alert on my phone. The news exploded even more on Twitter and Facebook after that, and then, my DVR caught up with the world, and a special report interrupted the show. President Obama just gave an address to the nation, the world, and confirmed that Bin Laden was dead, after an almost 10-year search.
Someone said on the news that it’s not usually natural to celebrate the death of someone but that, today, it feels right. And it does. It’s kind of boring, but I guess I’ll always remember that, when I found out Osama Bin Laden was dead, I was sitting in my bedroom in Baltimore, watching Brothers & Sisters and catching up on my tweets.
But with Osama Bin Laden dead now, the question is, What’s next?
This won’t be the end of it, but it’s a good step for the world. It will be interesting to see the president’s next approval ratings.
